Supporting Chemical Demilitarization Through Seamless Support Services

Challenge

The Program Executive Office (PEO) Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternatives (ACWA), whose priority is to safely and securely destroy obsolete U.S. chemical weapons stockpiles, needed a partner with experience working in chemical demilitarization programs for the U.S. Army to provide compliance, staff training, and evaluation support services for two occupational health care clinics providing onsite medical care.

Solution

Atlas Research is supporting the Program Executive Office (PEO) Assembled Chemical Weapons Alternative’s (ACWA) occupational health program by reviewing and evaluating the medical program, plans, and procedures for consistency with technical and scientific standards or requirements; assuring proper training of local health care providers; reviewing medical surveillance and biological monitoring data; providing input during the occupational health standard development process; and providing sound technical and management input to ACWA.

As part of this work, the Atlas Team conducts technical medical Staff Assistance Visits (SAVs) to ACWA medical clinics to assess compliance with policies and identify potential areas to improve local clinic goals, such as improving overall safety ratings. Atlas then provides recommendations for corrective actions and training.

In addition, the team coordinates and conducts annual medical Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) audits. Using our proven process to conduct audits, the Atlas Team gathers and reviews as much information as possible prior to the visit, and then works collaboratively with the site to conduct the assessment, complete the audit questionnaires, and develop a summary trip report.

Result

Well versed in the CQI audit process and sought out by clients for our unique ability to combine the required subject matter expertise with seamless administrative, technical, and management support, the Atlas Team is employing sound auditing, program review/evaluation, and training strategies to ensure that the PEO ACWA occupational health clinics comply with federal/national, agency, and local quality of care standards for the delivery of consistent and efficient medical services.
