Deborah McKay, RN, MS
Director, Veteran and Military Health Services
Deborah McKay, RN, MS, Capt, NC, USN (ret), a senior health care consultant and proud Veteran is Director of Veteran and Military Health Services at Atlas Research. Ms. McKay has over thirty years of experience in clinical health care, population health, patient safety, program management, and health information management.
Currently Ms. McKay is the Assistant Director for the Easter Seals National Veterans Caregiver Training Program (NVCTP) sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and is responsible for course curriculum development and training deployment for over 6000 VA Caregivers of post-9/11 injured Veterans. Ms. McKay has deployed NVCTP training throughout the country interacting with the Caregivers of severely injured Veterans to improve the health and well being of the Caregiver, the Veteran, and their family.
Ms. McKay previously worked for the TRICARE Military Health System as a data analyst assigned to the military electronic health record, AHLTA. She played a significant role in developing the Information Management requirements for the Center of Excellence for Psychological Health and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Prior to this, CAPT McKay served 28 years in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps and retired in 2005 from the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, TRICARE Management Activity, where she implemented the first Military Health System (MHS) Patient Safety Program.
Ms. McKay received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of West Florida and her Master of Science degree in Community Health Nursing and Addictions and Family Therapy from the University of Maryland.
