Atlas Research CEO, Ryung Suh, and President, Mark H. Chichester, have together been named the 2012 District of Columbia Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
In the fourth year under their leadership, Atlas grew to 40 full-time employees and 22 active projects in 2011, maturing from a small startup to a thriving and highly sought after health solutions and research firm.
Atlas has earned a reputation as an indispensable resource to health systems leaders faced with the challenge of improving performance, accountability, and transparency in a period shaped by the rapid change brought on by health care reform and the adversity associated with a challenging economic climate.
Their strong service record, entrepreneurial drive, and deep commitment to improving the health of underserved populations are among the qualities that define the company they lead and the employees that have made their success possible.
"Your hard work, innovative ideas, and dedication to your community have helped you succeed," said Karen G. Mills, SBA Administrator. "The SBA is pleased to recognize your achievements and your role in driving our nation's economic growth."
Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America's entrepreneurs and small business owners.
As part of National Small Business Week, the U.S. Small Business Administration highlights the impact of a distinguished group of entrepreneurs and small business owners from all 50 states and U.S. territories.
Dr. Suh and Mr. Chichester will be honored during a National Small Business Week awards celebration in Washington, DC, May 21, 2012, at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
